We offer a variety of options for students to learn about library services, resources, and programs. Check out the multiple ways for large groups to connect with us!
The NSU Alvin Sherman Library offers librarian-led tours and library instruction for schools and public groups. These scheduled visits to the library provide an overview of library services and how to use specific library resources. Group visits last approximately one hour (60 minutes) and are available during regular department hours. Longer sessions can be scheduled on a case-by-case basis for larger groups. Librarians can tailor resource overviews and special activities to the group's age-level, grade-level (PreK-12 and College), and subject area (History, Literature, STEM, etc.).
You must submit your request at least three weeks in advance. Sessions are expected to begin at the scheduled start time and will be abbreviated or rescheduled if the group’s arrival is delayed 20 minutes or more.
If your group is unable to visit us, we can provide an online presentation or have a librarian visit your school or community center location. You must submit your request at least three weeks in advance and site visits are subject to librarian availability.
If your group is self-directed (i.e. coming to the library to browse for books, work on homework projects, etc.) and does not require any additional services from a librarian, please email pcsrefdesk@nova.edu with the date/time of the planned visit.
We encourage you to submit your visit details at least one week in advance to ensure that there are no schedule conflicts and so we can provide parking instructions.
NSU faculty and staff may request librarian-led instruction sessions for their classes, groups, and departments. Session may take place online or in-person and can include a general overview of library resources and services or can be tailored to specific research topics and assignments.
You must submit your request at least three weeks in advance.
